OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 6, 2008 (Press Release) - Tronox Incorporated, on behalf of its subsidiary companies, today announced that prices for all TRONOX titanium dioxide (TiO2) grades sold in Mexico and Latin America will increase by US$150 per tonne, effective Aug. 15, 2008, or as contracts allow.
This increase is in addition to price increases announced in this region in June and July 2008 and is the next step toward partially offsetting the extraordinary increases in freight, energy and other input costs that the TiO2 industry has absorbed over the last two years.
Tronox has and will continue to focus on increasing the efficiency and productivity of its facilities; however, these increases are required to ensure the industry can profitably reinvest in the business to meet customers' needs in the future.
Headquartered in Oklahoma City, Tronox is the world's third-largest producer and marketer of titanium dioxide pigment, with an annual production capacity of 642,000 tonnes. Titanium dioxide pigment is an inorganic white pigment used in paint, coatings, plastics, paper and many other everyday products. The company's five pigment plants, which are located in the United States, Australia, Germany and the Netherlands, supply high-performance products to approximately 1,100 customers in 100 countries. In addition, Tronox produces electrolytic products, including sodium chlorate, electrolytic manganese dioxide, boron trichloride, elemental boron and lithium manganese oxide.
